Appleby Horse Fair

The charming old market town of Appleby is regarded as one of the most historic locations in old Westmorland and today hosts a wide range of events throughout the year. Known best for Appleby Horse Fair held every June attracting Gypsies, travellers and tourists from around the world. Appleby Fair is unique in Europe; around 10,000 Gypsies and travellers and over 30,000 other visitors attend the Fair, with Sunday being the traditional main visitors’ day. It transforms the town of Appleby for the week, as it normally has a population of around 2,500.

Appleby is just 6 miles from Morland Hall; we have hosted many visitors from the UK, Europe and the USA who come to see this amazing spectacle and to buy horses.
